A smart and simple way to separate

Use amica when separating from your former partner to make parenting arrangements if you have children, and to divide property and money.

How amica works

amica is a completely online service, designed for both desktop and mobile. It lets you work out your separation agreements easily, in your own time and on your own terms.

amica can be used by married and de facto couples, including couples who were in a registered relationship.

The step-by-step process

1

First, use our checklist of questions to check if amica is right for you.

Is amica right for me?

2

If it is right, sign up and send an invitation to your former partner to use amica together.

3

Each of you enters information about your relationship and any children or property.

4

Together you follow the steps in amica to make your separation arrangements.

5

Once you’re both happy, amica records what you’ve agreed about parenting or property and turns it into an agreement that you can download.

If at any point you can’t agree on something, you can talk it through with your former partner directly through amica, or you can save your progress and get help from the legal helpline.

How does amica make sure everything is fair?

amica was designed by family lawyers to make sure it is accurate, clear and fair. amica’s artificial intelligence was built to consider all the things that need to be considered when working out what’s fair for both of you.

It takes into account things like the length of your relationship, your age and health needs, your contributions to the relationship (including taking care of children), future arrangements for taking care of children, how much you both earn, and your future needs.
